Tiger Lily 'Splendens'
While demure in form, they are definitely bold in colour. Tiger Lily 'Splendens' has larger flowers, with a few less spots and stronger stems than traditional Tiger Lilies.
They are fantastic in the garden and wonderful placed in a vase. It holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit so you know it has been put through its paces and is garden worthy. Up to 25 flowers can open on established bulbs. Each bloom is around 12cm across.
Gardeners are returning the 'old fashioned' Tiger Lilies because of their hardy nature and nostalgic charm. They are less bright flashy (some may say gaudy) than those grown for cut flowers, but just as appealing and last well in a vase.
Plant Lilium 'Splendens' in a permanent position in the garden, the longer they establish the more flowers they will bear. Ensure you fertilise well, this will ensure the best blooms. In warmer climates, grow in part shade or morning sun so the flowers last longer.
Plant Tiger Lilies into humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Water to establish and keep moist during growth and flowering. Blooms are suitable for picking.
