Sedum 'Pink Jelly Beans'
What is not to love about this gorgeous little plant. The glossy, plump, jelly bean foliage forms along earnest stems. It will quickly fill a pot and using leaf or stem cuttings can be increased and shared, offering tremendous value. This variety is distinct as the jelly beans are a lovely, deep pink. You will get the best colour with a good amount of light, or under stress.
They are sensational alone, or in mixed succulent plantings and little yellow flowers open spring to summer.
As well as being nick named Jelly Beans, Sedum rubrotinctum is also commonly known as Pork and Beans or Christmas Cheer.
SIZE (HxW): 5-15cm x 10-50cm
I SEE THE LIGHT: Bright, indirect light is ideal. In high light the foliage will change. Keep out of the hot afternoon sun lest their leaves be sunburned or roots damaged. In bright light the leaves will develop a red blush.
WATER NEEDS: Water well, then allow the soil to almost dry out before watering again. Keeping them on the drier side will result in better colour. If the ‘jelly bean’s begin to shrivel it is a cry for help and they need some water.
I WILL SURVIVE: These plants are so easy, they pretty much look after themselves. In pots ensure you choose a cactus/succulent potting mix for best results as it offers the sharp drainage they need. Choose a pot with drainage holes to ensure they don’t end up sitting in water.
Use a diluted, liquid fertiliser in spring to keep them happy and healthy. They aren’t heavy feeders so will forgive you if you forget.
