Monk's Hood Tsarina
Aconitum 'Tsarina' is a regal perennial known for its tall, upright spikes of deep violet-blue flowers that bloom in late summer to autumn in the southern hemisphere. A standout in any garden, it brings a cool, elegant touch just as many other plants begin to fade.
Growing to around 90 cm high and 45 cm wide, 'Tsarina' is ideal for middle to back-of-border placements, where its stately form adds height and contrast. The deeply lobed, dark green foliage offers interest even when not in bloom, and the plant thrives in part shade with moist, well-drained soil.
This variety is especially suited to woodland gardens or shaded beds, where its rich colour can shine without full sun. While beautiful, it's important to note that all parts of the plant are toxic if ingested, so care should be taken around children and pets.
Low-maintenance and long-lived once established, Tsarina is perfect for gardeners seeking late-season colour and a touch of old-world charm in more sheltered spots.
