Blue Mist Flower

A lush, evergreen shrub from the sub tropical woodlands of Mexico and South America. Quick to grow and establish, it will soon impress with an upright habit, large foliage and corymbs (to 25cm) of violet blooms with a sweet, lilac perfume. These fancy blooms are adored by gardeners and beneficial pollinators. A rarity worth snapping up.

The emerald green leaves grow to around 25cm long on the woody branches and have a red, woolly reverse. The new branches have this same hairy covering.

It grows to an impressive 200cm, maybe a bit more but can be easily pruned to your desired size.

It is frost tender so should be planted in a protected position or a pot in cool climates. In warm climates it doesn’t like to exceed 30C. As a woodland plant it is best in bright, filtered light and should be protected from hot afternoon sun. Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, moist, well drained soil. They love humidity as they are from mountainous areas. A light application of a fertiliser in spring while establishing is ideal. Water well in active growth if rainfall is low. Flowers on new and old growth. Protect from slugs and snails.
