Agastache Poquito 'Lavender'
Tough as old boots, these low growing, compact Salvia are a handy free flowering choice for gardens or containers. The big, dense, lavender pink floral spires are adored by friendly pollinators and gardeners alike.
The low growing, fragrant foliage can be wonderful planted along paths, where you can brush up against it, or you could pick a sprig or two to bring indoors and enjoy in a vase. The fragrance is reminiscent of citrus and liquorice.
Agastache flowers and leaves are edible and can be used in salads or teas.
Standing up to heat and tolerant of poor soils, so long as they are well drained, Agastache are ideal for providing long lasting colour as a dry garden plant. Agastache plants prefer a full sun to light shade position, they need water to establish, then you only need to worry if rainfall is low. Rabbits rarely show an interest and they aren’t troubled by disease.
We recommend dead heading your Agastache flowers regularly during the season to encourage more blooms OR a mid season cut back (don’t forget to water and fertilise after) for a rebloom into autumn. It is a good idea to cut your plants back to the ground in winter or early spring to maintain a healthy bush and allow the new growth to shine.
Agastache is also known as Hummingbird Mint or Anise Hyssop, they are native to the south western U.S.A and Mexico.
