Agapanthus 'Guilfoyle'

Agapanthus ‘Guilfoyle’ is a magnificent evergreen perennial with huge heads of waxy, midnight blue flowers that can last up to eight weeks. The eye catching flower heads are a whopping 30cm across. Not only are the blooms big, and beautiful, they are also prolific; with established plants easily producing over ten in a season, how good is that?

The evergreen leaves are a slightly lighter shade than standard Agapanthus which is a refreshing change. They form a tidy, upright clump beneath the blooms.

Agapanthus ‘Guilfoyle’ grows magnificently in our paddocks, and nearly all who visit ask after it. The statuesque flowers shone through the height of the summer heat, and the colour is just amazing. It is definitely one of our favourite Agapanthus. In the garden, once the flowers finish, we like to remove the seed pods and allow the spiky stem to stand, remaining a decorative feature into winter.

Tough, hardy and drought tolerant too! Agapanthus are easy care plants that provide months of flowering with very little effort. The gorgeous, strappy, evergreen foliage is the perfect complement to the tall blooms.

Agapanthus look great as part of a border, used as edging plants or together in clumps.

Agapanthus can be woven through beds, planted along drives or fences, put in pots or somewhere just for picking - they are hard to beat!

Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil, they aren’t too fussy. They prefer a full sun to part shade position with the best flowers at six hours or more of sunshine.
